Your energy was tremendous and it is collaboration like this that makes what we do really special. The client is thrilled with the work.
Associate Creative Director
He is a meticulous artist who brings a work ethic to his photographic process that I’ve not witnessed with any other photographer in my 30 years of nonprofit arts marketing. I have had the great pleasure of working with Karl on jobs ranging from two-hour receptions to spending a full day shooting an exhibition and capturing young people making art to three full days of creating portraits for Stories from the Paul Robeson House. Over 30 people were photographed for that book and each portrait captured the unique qualities of that individual.
Karl puts a great deal of preparation into his photo shoots. He wants to know who the audience is for the final product, the profiles of those he will be photographing, how the photos are being used whether a college catalog or a print ad and location details. Why? Because he wants to make sure the client gets exactly what he or she wants. And, as one of those clients, I can say I always do.
One of the things I truly enjoy watching is how Karl works with the subjects he is photographing. It’s almost therapeutic. I’ve seen him put an anxious child at ease, get a cranky curmudgeon to smile and help a shy, aspiring fine arts student show her flair.

Karl has a great personality and demeanor, which seamlessly blends with that of his professional abilities and talent. When working in the studio or on location, that demeanor and his passion shine. His laid back and easy going style not only demonstrates his mastery of the physical and technical craft of photography, but his mastery of working with people and putting them at ease.
Seasoned stalwart Creative Director or entrepreneur needing their first headshot? Doesn’t matter. Details are always covered with the crew and unfortunate surprises are never to be found. Subjects and models quickly forget there’s a camera pointed at them. Clients quickly forget they were apprehensive about finding the perfect photographer. Light, composition, color, the way the image feels, and most importantly, peace of mind, are all there. Karl effortlessly inspires comfort and confidence to make sure the moments in time he captures are perfect.
